Bare Necessities: Events for 4/22
Normally Sunday is a day of reflection and meditation, where we educate you on the finer points of world affairs, scientific accolades and religious experiences, but basketball will be taking over our lives today. Hence, we will be glued to our set all day and charting the action; our writings on the subject will come out at a later undetermined point. No posts after this one today; we’ll be back tomorrow running the regular schedule.
If you’re not really interested in the NBA (and we sadly suspect that most of you don’t know Gilbert Arenas from Gilbert Godfrey), we have less meaningful events for you to check out. Your loss.
SF Cherry Blossom Parade, Japantown, 9 AM. Someone tell what either of those things at the right have to do with cherry blossoms. Or Japan. Clearly we haven’t researched our Shintoisms.
UC Men’s Octet Auditions & California Golden Overtones Auditions, Cesar Chavez Basement, 11 AM and noon respectively. Wonder how many a cappella singers have become Idol rejects. Probably in the millions now.
31st Annual Pilipino Culture Night, Zellerbach Hall, 1-5 PM. We’re not sure why it’s Culture Night, but whatever. Chances this show ends on time? Nil.
The Revolutionary Ideas of Karl Marx, Black Oak Books, 5 PM. I guess by revolution, they mean millions killed, gulags invented, systems broken within seventy years. But sure, ideas are fine.
Her Inspiration: A concert dedicated to the memory of Ronni Gravitz, Hertz Hall, 7 PM. Singing is caring.
