And Teenage Girls All Around the World Yelp in Delight

We think cell phones are the most useful and annoying things created by man. We can’t live with them and simultaneously wish we could live without them. Although we’re okay with them as long as college professors do things like this when people misuse them.
So everyone must be thrilled that one day the world will [...]

David Halberstam, 1934-2007

Pulitizer Prize winner David Halberstam, one of the greatest non-fiction storytellers of our generation, died yesterday when a car broadsided the vehicle in which he was a passenger. Kevin Jones, the driver and a UC Berkeley journalism student, was injured but survived.
I haven’t read too much Halberstam, but I always knew he was a giant [...]

Deep Blue Sea Is An Awesome Movie–Events for 4/26

It’s all about the Bay tonight. Here is where students go out, doing awkward dances for a few hours, stare at the stars, come back to their dorms…and realize that their date is still not going to sleep with them, and most likely not talk to them ever again. Four hours of awkward pauses with [...]

Some Things Just Can’t Be Unseen

I never really believed the idea that Berkeley chicks are somehow inferior to the rest of the nation in terms of looks, but I’ve always had eclectic tastes in women (you’ll always get love here gals, don’t believe the haters). That being said, the prevailing myth that every double X here is unfuckable to [...]

I’ll Really Wish I Had Majored in Econ: Telebears XIII–History

History is one of those subjects you try to avoid for the entirety of your time in school, simply because secondary school teachers like to ram into you many facts. Yes, that brutal bastard Christopher Columbus discovered American islands in 1492. Yes, Lewis and Clark teamed up with Sacagawea for the most successful threesome of [...]

NBA and Berkeley? Must Have to Do With Diversity

Okay, we lied partially about there being no events today. There IS one thing that might warrant your attention today.
John Amaechi, the first openly gay former pro basketball player, is coming to [2050] VLSB Wednesday night to promote his new book, Man in the Middle. For those of you still skeptical of this ex-NBA role [...]

Skip Town The Rest of This Week–No Events on 4/25

Instead of giving you events today, Berkeleyites, I encourage you to get out of this city. It’s a pretty dull week, and everyone’s just looking ahead to summer anyway. Professors start lagging, students start skipping, girls get hotter…err, in most places.
So where should you go? Why, Coachella of course. Just lok at all those bands [...]
