The Real Hills (ASUC Election Preview)

Have you been seriously enthralled by the packs of wolves running around campus asking for your help, your support, your allegiance? Do you believe in diversity, in support of your fellow man, in lowering your fees, in cheap sloganeering, in righting the ship on cookie cutter issues? Do you believe in words my friend? Words?
Well, we’re reaching the climax of that great saga which we all know you want. The ASUC candidates have promised again, for the eleventh hundred year in a row, to do all of these things. We think this might be the year Berkeley students don’t get the shaft. We’re thinking of hedging bets on this.
We think about ASUC elections the way we think about most elections. Words. Words words words words. It’s kind of like that “This is John Galt speaking” speech or that utterly ridiculous sentence in Ulysses–you’re just waiting for the end to come by about page 3. We expect people to say SOMETHING that we give a shit about.
So until Wednesday (when we immediately stop caring about any of this), we’ll be running down the candidate list for big officers and just looking at the parties for senators. It’ll be a little unconventional though. Trust us.
