We Invite You to Jimmy Carter’s Toughest Challenge…Um, Largest Coronation Yet

Clearly the last big event of the 2006-07 UC Berkeley school year cannot go without mention here. (No, we’re not talking about the Pagan Festival, which must be leaving you quivering in anticipation). The 39th President is heading this way, and he’s a got many a causes to espouse.

Former President Jimmy Carter will speak on the UC Berkeley campus on Wednesday, May 2, at 4:30 p.m. in Zellerbach Hall on the subject of his latest book, “Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid.”

Carter was invited by UC Berkeley students, and the event is co-sponsored by the ASUC and the campus.

We’re undeniably perplexed as to why Berkeley people organize things like this. Why didn’t we just invite the President to speak at commencement? Sure, you can barely tell the difference between him and Danny Glover politically, but at least the former has been, oh, PRESIDENT.
