In Theory, This Could Work…

In another one of those “sounds great on paper” ideas, you can now move between the Bay and LA for as little as a dollar and as much as nine. We will let you ponder whether you will enjoy the company of your equally cheap passengers.

The intercity express bus company Megabus.com plans to begin daily service from San Francisco, San Jose, and Oakland to Los Angeles for as low as $1 starting August 8. The Oakland stop is located on the south side of the service road behind the West Oakland BART Station, near Mandela Parkway. According to the company, there are a limited number of $1 tickets, which are purchased online. After those have sold, regular ticket price is $9 from Oakland. At least two buses depart from Oakland – one in the afternoon and another at midnight – for the seven-hour trip.

This sounds like a great idea, because I’ve never really gotten an up-close look at the Bloods and the Cripps. Now they can transmit their synergistic attitude up here for only $9 a brother. And they land them right in the best spot in the Bay! We knew West Oakland was kicking before, but now it’ll really be rocking.

So thank you Megabus. East Bay’s been too quiet lately, it needs a little spicin’ up. Hey, at least we can send the homeless packing the other way! (Sorry, you’re right–for a homeless person, L.A. is a fate worse than death.)
