Darwin Approves of Berkeley
Those of you still online today probably do not care about the events transpiring at Memorial Stadium (your loss; well, unless we lose, then it’s our loss), so tonight’s feature presentation takes us into the fine world of Theatre Rice and their parody of that hideous show Man vs. Wild, a feature previewed at the Summer of Rice. Clearly skydiving into the Big C has yet to lose its merit.
If you like what you see, read on after the jump.
I’m not sure if I even need a description here. The awesome just unfolds before your eyes. The metaphors for surviving the Berkeley wilderness are striking. This video seems like a far more accurate tour of campus than what the tourists/parents/prospectives usually get. “This is where any idea you have of being a good student is tossed aside by insecure and vicious profs fattened up by tenure.” It might not provide as many enrollments as the rosy scenarios the tour guides paint out, but hey, at least we get the competitively honest rather than the perpetual whiners. (Oh, that includes me, doesn’t it?)
In terms of sheer entertainment, can anything beat the thrill of “scaling the Campanile”? Epic. And all of a sudden nerd-watching has become one of my five favorite activities in Cal. The possibilities are endless. What happens if you dangle free Odwalla on a string from a bookshelf at 1 am? Will they take the bait? Will they watch in wary pursuit? Will they just be freaked out by the presence of Odwalla hanging from a string and alert Homeland Security?
Hmm, on second thought, perhaps this isn’t the greatest idea.
