John Adams, For Your Listening Pleasure

Apparently, we’re so far off the cultural beat that we have no idea who’s world-famous and who’s not world-famous anymore. So when we found out that composer and Berkeley resident John Adams classified as one of these exclusive peoples, I had to find out what this guy was made of. This guy did create an opera about Robert Oppenheimer, so he can’t be all that bad.

Sampling this particular piece above, however, leaves us kinda confused; it’s not bad, but nothing special either; if John Williams composed this, the piece would be in the bottom third of his collection. It has something to it, but I’m not quite sure what it is. Decent rhythms though.

I’ll get back to you on him once I find one of his operas (I’m frenetically searching for Doctor Atomic).
