Downloading Simplicity, Part I–Foxit Reader and PDF Creator
(School is coming sooner than you think. While you toil away at your internships/jobs/summer sessions, we’ll be providing some hopefully useful downloads to simplify your computer taskmaking.)
You’ve all experienced it. You’re trying to print some important document that requires PDF to upload. Clearly, you must go to Adobe Acrobat, your lone solution for downloading the necessary files. And then you wait. Wait for your coffee to gain that lovely taste of used chalk. Watch that cute assistant secretary you were planning to ask out tonight to depart into the windy Bay Area night. Note as the chance for you to catch the end of the Giants game is growing dimmer by the second as you check the Yahoo Sports box. And then Acrobat loads up about ten minutes later and you have reaffirmed your hatred of life.
Okay, a bit of an exaggeration, but we’re all sick of having to wait for Acrobat to load up and shape up. Tap that into buying that deluxe Microsoft Office package to help create PDF files, and then only a week later force ourselves to buy Adobe Acrobat to make sure the end result isn’t corrupted. But we have an answer for your empty pockets that won’t cost you a dime.
Well, fear no more. Foxit Reader provides the same basic functions as Adobe Reader, without the fluff. Now you can upload those PDFs in a flash with this sleek freeware, and you can indeed grab that date with that secretary. Foxit=endorphin rush, Adobe=rush hour.
If you are in the need of creating PDFs for some project, event, or other formal function, PDF Creator will convert almost any document into a PDF in record time. That way you can not only snag that date, you can impress her with your awesome flyers for the upcoming donut office party. Doesn’t get any hotter than that.
